My little tomato

I'm thrilled! Thrilled, thrilled, thrilled! I've grown my very first tomato plant - and my very first tomato plant has ripened its (my) very first tomato, with more waiting in the wings to take their share of the limelight!

Hiding rather shyly in the foliage

But for now... here are some photos of the Little Red Tomato That Could... and the Little Green Tomatoes That Also Can! I'm so pleased that I havent managed to kill the plant - neither with kindness nor through neglect. Even my 6 beautful rose bushes are thriving, and my bay trees and mint and basil and oregano and parsley as well... maybe, just maybe, my black fingers are turning a wee bit green...

But for now, here are the photos!

More little ones on the way

And some more...

And some more still...!

Gini: herb pix? Didnt think of it, but I guess I could post some pix of those too! :)

Arundati: Good luck with your tomatoes too! It might be a good idea to transplant them, because my one little tomato plant (started out 6" tall) is now nearly 6 feet tall! :)

Tomato looks beautiful... I know how happy you feel when we get a fruit or vegetable from your own garden.

does the little cutie have a name?

The first ones are so delightful, aren't they - we take pictures, talk about them and even talk to them. :-) I had several tomato plants last year and had a real blast cooking with them. This year I was busy with other things and had to sadly abandon gardening.

Congratulations, and looking forward to see more.

Priya: Thanks, I need all the luck going! :)

Prema: Yep, I'm only now beginning to find out. It's such fun!

Bee: Hahaha. :D No, it doesnt have a name. Once you name something, it gets personalised and then you cant eat it (or harvest it) :)

Evolvingtastes: I've stopped short of talking to them, but I'm doing well on talking ABOUT them! :D

Raaga: My first successful effort, this :)

Padmaja: It absolutely is! I've only grown herbs so far, but next year I hope to be more adventurous :)
